Nongsa Paddle Club

Nongsa ~ because it is a jewel of a location only 40 minutes by ferry from Singapore, 20 minutes from Hang Nadim International Airport, 30 minutes from downtown Nagoya for shopping and entertainment with a variety of facilities for paddlers and families alike.

Paddle ~ because it is a fun way to get and keep fit. The canoes are fast and a joy to move through the water and stored and launched from the Sailing Club at the south end of the marina. Suitable for ages 15 to 75.

Club ~ sharing a love of the ocean, enthusiasm for getting and keeping fit all year round, being part of a community of like minded individuals. You don't have to join the club, just come along and see how much you like it.

History of the Va'a
Va’a (outrigger canoes) have been traveling the Pacific Ocean for more than 4,000 years. Around 2,000 BC a wave of seafaring people emerged from Asia and ventured out into the Eastern Pacific Ocean for the first time in Human history.

Today
The modern Va’a sport was developed in Tahiti and Hawaii. It spread around most of the Polynesian, Micronesian and Melanesian Islands, but also moved to Australia, NZ, USA, Canada, South America and Asia…and finally to Europe.

Outrigger paddling is a popular form of fitness training. Benefits include a great upper body workout, as well as cardiovascular endurance. Paddling tends to be “easy” on the body, free from the impact associated with other endurance sports. The use of one man and two man canoes for recreation and surfing is also very common. We offer paddlers the opportunity to paddle on a recreational level without the commitment to train for competition.

But If competition is your dream, you have the opportunity.The sport has a large and growing international following with amateur competitions available for all age groups throughout the year, as close as Singapore. It is our ambition to build a team to compete in one or more international events.Today we have single, double and 6 seater Va'as available.
